A dofollow link is an ordinary link that passes ranking signals to the page it points to. There is no rel="dofollow" attribute in HTML. A link is dofollow simply by not carrying nofollow, sponsored, or ugc. The term exists only as the counterpart to those attributes.
Why the attribute alone says little
Dofollow is a minimum condition, not a quality signal. A dofollow link from a site with no readers, no topical fit, and no editorial standard passes almost nothing. A nofollow mention in a publication your customers actually read can be worth more in reach and brand recognition. Judging a placement by its attribute alone is the most common mistake in link buying.
What actually decides the value
Three things carry more weight than the attribute. Whether the publisher has genuine organic traffic. Whether the topic of the page matches yours. And whether the link sits inside a real article rather than in a list of links. A placement that fails all three is worthless no matter how it is marked.
How common are they?
Of 33,482 publisher offers in the Linkbroker catalogue, 97.4 percent are dofollow (as of September 2026). Availability is therefore not the constraint. Selection is.
How this works on the marketplace
Every listing shows the attribute, the traffic estimate, and the topical fit before you book, so the decision is about relevance rather than about a checkbox. The Linkfinder AI scores publishers against your domain and niche. See the catalogue.
